Charles and Sarah (nee Dominey) Parkhouse lived near her parents' parish of Thurlbear, near Taunton, where they had married in 1863, until after the birth of their first child, Emily, in 1864. By 1866, they had moved to Puriton, near Bridgwater, Somerset, where they were to remain for the rest of their lives, raising 10 children. Their graves are in Puriton churchyard.
