made the fifthe day of September in the year of our Lord One Thousand
Seven Hundred and Sixty Eight Between Samuel Bass of Lympston in the
County of Devon Shipwright of the one part and Thomas Bass of Teignmouth
in the said County of Devon Shipwright of the other part
Witnesseth That the said Samuel Bass for & in Consideration
of the sum of five shillings of lawfull Money of Great Britain to him in
hand paid by the said Thomas Bass at the Execution of The Receipt
whereof is hereby Acknowledged hath Bargained & Sold and by these Presents
doth Bargain & Sell unto the said Thomas Bass his Exors Admors and
Assigns
All that Messuage or Tenement with the Apputenances thereunto
belonging and therewith lately enjoyed as part or parcel thereof by the said
Samuel Bass in whose Possession the same Promises now are and also
the North Moiety of the Building place or Green as it’s now Parted with
Stones The said North Moiety being in Breadth to the West from the Lime Kiln
Quay Forty three feet & half to the South and the Breadth of the said North
Moiety to the East from the House wherein Mrs Hamock now lives to the
South forty five Foot and also the Eastern part or Moiety of the boarded
Cellar which is to be Equally parted at the Joint Expense of the said Partys
and also the little Cellar Adjoining and also the said Waste Plott of Ground
to the North of the said Cellars whereon the said Samuel Bass used to
build Boats with their and every of their Appurts Subject to the Annuities
charged thereon All which said last mentioned Premises are Situate lying &
being in Lympston aforesaid and are now in the several Possessions of the
said Samuel Bass Worthington Brice and Thomas Curtes and the
Reversion & Reversions Remainder & Remainders Rents Issues Profits Suits and
Services thereof and of every part & parcel thereof with their and every of
their Appurtenances
To have and to hold the said Lands and Premises hereby Bargained
and Sold or intended to be and every part & parcel thereof with the
Appurtenances unto the said Thomas Bass his Exors Admors and Assigns
from the Day of the date hereof for & during and until the full End & Term
of one whole year from thenceforth next ensuing and fully to be compleat &
Ended Yeilding & Paying therefore unto the said Samuel Bass his Heirs
or Assigns one Pepper Corn at the end of the said Term if the same shall be
lawfully Demanded To the Intent that by Virtue of these Presents and by
force of the Statute made for Transferring Uses into Possession he the said
Thomas Bass may be in the Actual Possession of all and Singular the
said Premises above Bargained and Sold with their and every of their
Appurtenances and be thereby Enabled to Accept and take of a Grant and
Release of the Reversion and Inheritances thereof to him & his Heirs To the
only proper Use and behoof of the said Thomas Bass his Heirs &
Assigns forever
In Witness whereof the said Partys to these Presents their Hands &
Seals Interchangeably have set the Day and Year first above Written
